ALEXANDER GRIMES

Music has always been my way of life.  I was raised in a traditional conservatory environment, attending New England Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music.  I currently hold the position of Principal Viola of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra in Seattle.

My interest in film-scoring began while recording dozens of film, television, and video game scores as a session musician.  Some of these projects have included Outlander (Bear McCreary), Fargo (Jeff Ruso), Destiny 2 (Michael Salvatori), Metal Gear Solid V, and Call of Duty (Harry Gregson-Williams).

My goal is to write inspiring, emotionally profound music in collaboration with other artists and storytellers to create fine works of "total art" that one medium alone cannot fully express.  I believe that collaboration, communication, and teamwork are essential elements in any artistic venture.

I have a passion for writing cinematic orchestral music using traditional acoustic instruments.  I have a deep understanding of the orchestra because I have spent my life playing in them!
